Module Content

The Major Practical Project will present the student with the opportunity to produce a substantive piece of work that represents the culmination of the students’ understanding and ability in their chosen areas of creative practice. It allows the student to conceive, plan and create a major project under their own initiative.
Introductory lectures will look at examples of possible outcomes for the major practical project, creative methods for tackling a wide variety of ideas, existing practice and audience. Workshops will demonstrate techniques for idea generation, planning, proposal writing, time-handling and waypoints, documentation and reflective practice related to the completion of the project.

The major practical project is an opportunity to demonstrate comprehension of the programme and complete a body of work intended to enable students to pursue chosen career ambitions. As such students will be expected to demonstrate planning and documentation skills, a technical competence of the required tools / equipment and display management skills, whether developing a project single-handedly or by leading a group. Creativity, innovation and where possible multi / inter disciplinary solutions will be encouraged.
